Former West Ham United striker Dean Ashton has stated that bringing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club would be ‘incredible’.

The Sweden international is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain this summer and is widely expected to move to the Premier League.

Despite a host of leading teams being touted as potential destinations for the Scandinavian forward, the Hammers are being proposed as a real possibility in bringing Ibrahimovic to England.

If the veteran could be tempted to join Slaven Bilic’s side it would be a major coup and a real statement of intent before the club moves to the Olympic Stadium.

Ashton has stated that Ibrahimovic would be the marque signing that the club needs to move to the next level and that he would be a favourite of the fans.

“I’m pretty sure every West Ham fan would love to see Ibrahimovic come to the Olympic Stadium,” Ashton told 888sport.

“I know there have been rumours, and what a signing he would be. He brings experience and flair, and he’s the type of player West Ham fans love who can produce something from nothing. He would be incredible.

“Of course money is a factor with his age but it’s not as if you buy Ibrahimovic and he’s going to flop. He’s just not that type of player.

“He has already shown he doesn’t need lightning pace, he can just drop back and lead the play and he still scores so many goals.”

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are being touted as potential suitors of Ibrahimovic, with the striker to have no shortage of offers this summer.
