Besiktas have released a statement clarifying that star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup has not agreed a move to West Ham or any other club.

The 23-year-old has starred for the Turkish outfit this season and has played an important role in his side powering their way to the top of the Super Lig table.

Ozyakup is expected to be a prominent member of the Turkish national side at Euro 2016 this summer and is being tipped for a move to one of Europe’s top leagues as a result.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is a fan of the former Arsenal youth player from their mutual time at Besiktas, with the Croatian admitting in the recent past that he would love to have the talented playmaker in his Hammers side.

Rumblings that West Ham and Atletico Madrid are fighting for Ozyakup’s signature have emerged in the European press in recent weeks, but Besiktas have been quick to deny that their prized asset has already agreed to leave his homeland.

“Reports that we have agreed terms with a club over the transfer of Oguzhan Ozyakup are false. There will be no talks until the end of the season,” a club statement published on Turkish Football reads.
