West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has made an audacious comment stating that he would prefer the Hammers won the FA Cup this season over finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

The Boleyn Ground outfit have had a progressive campaign to date and are still in the running to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The London outfit are also in the latter stages of the FA Cup and host Manchester United tonight in a sixth round replay, with the winners set to be included in the semi-finals and play at Wembley.

Although finishing in the top four would surely be a massive achievement for the Hammers, Bilic has reiterated the importance of the cup competition.

“The FA Cup always. It’s obvious. I can’t imagine any manager saying opposite, that he would rather take fourth in the league, when you still have to qualify, than the FA Cup,” he told The Daily Star.

“The FA Cup is a trophy. It’s a historical one.”

West Ham drew the first leg of the cup clash with United at Old Trafford and will fancy their chances of turning Louis van Gaal’s men over at the Boleyn Ground.

Bilic’s side are coming off the back of a rousing comeback against Arsenal on Saturday, where they drew 3-3, while the Red Devils were soundly beaten 3-0 by Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
