Slaven Bilic has claimed that West Ham could bring in some new faces in January.

At this particular moment in time, the Hammers’ squad boasts excellent depth alongside good first-team quality.

Recent rumours have linked Brazilian international striker Alexandre Pato and Japanese forward Keisuke Honda to the club. When Bilic was questioned whether West Ham were interested in moving for these players, his response suggested that the Hammers could look to do business in the winter window:

“We will see in January, but they are just rumours,”

“We have done the majority of the job in August and I’m happy with the team.

“It doesn’t mean that we’re not, if possible, going to get one or two or offload one or two, but nothing major in terms of numbers.

“But if something exceptional comes our way then you never know. But we have done our job and we are OK.”

The large majority of West Ham fans will feel that the manager is right when he states that the squad is in good condition. For the first time in a while, West Ham are not going into the window desperate for players to improve the team.

The fact that Bilic has already said he will move for an exceptional player if he becomes available is also quite exciting but these types of players are rarely available in January.

Although they are just rumours, the likes of Pato and Honda could certainly offer something different but they are by no means exceptional players.

If players are sold in January, then expect movement from the Hammers. Otherwise it’s a case of sticking with what is already ours and right now that is no problem at all.

A player that will boost the squad when he returns is Alex Song. Bilic confirmed that the midfielder will be ‘back soon’ but will miss this weekend’s clash against Watford.
