As Hammers fans we’re used to feeling cheated after another one of our stars is left out of an international squad. However, this case appears so unjust that it’s almost laughable.

Right now, there is no French attacking midfielder in Europe performing better than Dimitri Payet. The 28-year-old already has four goals and three assists in the Premier League so far this season as he looks to build on his impressive 2014/15 campaign with Marseille.

Despite Payet’s blistering start to the season, Didier Deschamps opted for the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Valbuena in his latest French squad. Although these players are clearly talented, they are not performing at Payet’s level right now.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Payet outlined his frustrations after another international snub from Deschamps:

“It feels like an injustice. For over a year I have been at the best level of my career, although I can still improve,”

“So, to me, it is unfair not to be included in the France team.

“I do not understand what is expected of me, and I said so.

“But not being named in the France team does not stop me from living. I’m not kneeling before my television waiting for the list.

The midfielder spoke glowingly of his time spent in England so far.

“I’m living a dream in England at the moment. I do not want to be in the national team if it is going to make me unhappy.”

We couldn’t agree more Dimitri.
