Kevin Nolan

Former club captain Kevin Nolan has turned down the opportunity to move to France and play for a Ligue 1 club, according to Sky Sports.

The 33-year-old has been training with Leyton Orient as he looks to revitalise his career. It is understood that the midfielder rejected a deal abroad after two weeks of negotiations with the unnamed French club.

Nolan had stated before that he would prefer to stay in London and it is believed that the move to France was rejected because it was too much of a strain on the player’s family.

He hasn’t given up on a move to a Premier League club amidst suspected interest from the likes of Bournemouth and Sunderland. The Cherries have had a torrid time of late with injuries to key men and Nolan’s experience could be vital to the team’s survival in the Premier League this season.

Carlton Cole

Elsewhere, former Hammer Carlton Cole has been training with Celtic in a bid to secure a permanent contract at the club. He has impressed manager Ronny Deila and it looks as if the Scottish side are favourites in the race to secure the 31-year-old’s signature.

The striker has also attracted interest from Qatar but Celtic appear to be favourites as Cole is expected to find a new club by the end of this week.
