Advocaat-600x400

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat is set to mix things up against West Ham as his struggling side continue to search for their first league win of the season.

The Black Cats have played a 4-3-3 system so far but the likes of Fabio Borini and Jermaine Defoe have struggled in the lone striker role.

The formation has also seen them concede the most goals in the division, letting in an alarming 16 goals whilst scoring just six up the other end.

When questioned on his tactics, Advocaat admitted that something needed to change:

“We definitely have to look at a change of formation.

“Now we have to ask do we go on with 4-3-3 or do we have to find another solution?

“Yes, we have to think about the way we are playing to find a way to be more successful than we have so far.

“If we have an idea about how to do that, you have to change it.

“The next seven games until the end of November are very important.”

Slaven Bilic will undoubtedly be taking note of Advocaat’s words as the Hammers prepare for the away trip to the Stadium of Light. West Ham have performed better on the counter-attack this season but have struggled when teams adopt a defensive set up against them.
