Enner says sorry

Enner Valencia

One of the more concerning stories to come out of the club recently is Enner Valencia’s outburst regarding his injury. He told La Deportiva that he believed the club had ‘forgotten’ about his injury and that West Ham had ‘not been supporting’ the striker.

Valencia is recovering from an injury he sustained in a Europa League qualifier in pre-season and it sounds as if the striker is frustrated at his lack of medical treatment and attention.

Despite this, the club have not taken too kindly to this and a recent statement from Valencia suggests that the Ecuadorian is backtracking on the comments he made:

“I have had a number of consultation meetings with specialists in London, accompanied by members of the Club’s medical staff. They have always kept me updated me on my injury.

“It has been a frustrating time, but I would like to make clear that I have the utmost respect and confidence in the Club’s medical team and the specialists I was referred to.

“I would like to apologise to them and the Club for any issues arising from the recent press coverage.”

Although the apology is clear, it will be a concern to most fans that the striker expressed those views in the first place, could the striker have a point?

With all the non-signings going on, why on earth haven’t we gone back to Carlton Cole! He’s a Hammer who cares and he gives his all.
