Let’s be honest, when Umbro was announced as the kit manufacturer for the final season at the Boleyn Ground, many of us squirmed at the thought of it.
Fast forward to kit launch day and those feelings are suddenly forgotten. Umbro have implemented a smart, sophisticated and attractive retro style that will really appeal to the fans and will certainly act as a fitting tribute to the Boleyn Ground.

The shirt was inspired by the original 1904 design, with the official website stating that the kit ‘will pay a fitting tribute to over a century of memories.’

The shirt includes a gold badge with a commemorative message outlining the years spent at the Boleyn. There is also a design on the back of the shirt which is clearly inspired by the Boleyn gates.

Although Umbro produced rather uninspiring kits for clubs like Everton and Derby this season, they have certainly not slipped up here. In fact, it looks like it could already be a modern classic and fans will be excited to see what new faces will be pulling on the iconic kit this season.
Well played Umbro, can’t wait to see the away kit now.
