Rickie LambertSam Allardyce’s obsession with Southampton’s Rickie Lambert doesn’t look like ending anytime soon, if the Daily Mail are to be believed.

The newspaper is reporting that West Ham hopes to capitalise on the upheaval in the Saints boardroom and are willing to pay £7 million to get their man.

It was reported a week or so ago that West Ham had a bid rejected for the England international. Furhermore, it was believed that Lambert wasn’t keen on the move to Upton Park and felt he could earn a place in England’s World Cup squad if he stayed at St Marys’.

West Ham are hoping that has now all changed with Nicola Cortese resigning and the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino up in the air.

What are your thoughts on Lambert? £7 million seems a bit much, doesn’t it?

Yes I agree, no re-sale value, limited use in Premier League due to age and pace issues. What has happened with the Lacina Traore transfer? With Carlton, AC and Lacina I would have thought that we would have enough strikers for Sam’s one up top style of play.

What is the point of Rickie Lambert. The way i see it carrols back, cole has signed a new deal and suppose to get traote i. The next couple of days. If im correct that’s 3 strikers there and we seem to only play 1 at the top so we wouldn’t need Lambert to get paid all this money to keep a bench for us. Makes no sense would rather keep that money and get another defender as all ours are pretty much injured. just a thought lescott would be nice to see.

Oh I see, sell ravel, talented young and a player who will only increase in value, for 8 mill. Then spend the whole damn lot on Ricki Lambert old end of career player. with no re-sale value. Sounds like a good deal, especially when we already have three big lumps available to play centre forward.
