Ravel MorrisonRavel Morrison and West Ham have held preliminary talks over a new contract, writes Hugh Southon from ‘Claret and Hugh’.

Speculation has grown in recent weeks over Morrison’s West Ham future, with rumours of a return to Manchester United surfacing.

Southon reports that talks of a four-and-a-half-year deal on £60,000 week have been discussed, with a source telling him:

“I think it’s reasonable for you to assume that’s where they are at but the board will re-visit the negotiations come the summer.”

The 20-year-old didn’t play during West Ham’s busy Christmas schedule, which fuelled speculation of a potential move and given the Hammers’ financial situation, you’d imagine any bid north of £10 million would be considered.

Is Ravel worth the £60,000k a week?

Everyone has head that Ravel walked out on Xmas eve after a massive bust up with the club.
Apparantly he has been AWOL for 10 days and out with his mates.
Get someone at the club to comment, they all don’t know what to say and will not answer.
This came from an X player who is in the know.

If Ravel walked out because he doesn’t like a certain situation & has gone AWOL then perhaps it might be wise to sell him whilst we can. I have read that there are bids in the region of £18 – 19 million but I could be wrong.
The problem is that if he goes adrift at W Ham, what’s going to stop him doing the same at another club? If his recent antics are common knowledge then this might scupper our chances of getting decent money for him.
