West Ham on the road to becoming a laughing-stock?

Jack Sullivan Marouane ChamakhIt’s a pretty sad state of affairs when the 13-year-old son of West Ham United’s co-chairman IS THE NEWS! Blimey guvnor what’s going on?

Jack Sullivan has become a Twitter hero and villain, at the same time, but the truth is it should never have been allowed to happen.

When 13-year-olds – or people close to them – start online polls about whether the club should sign a guy who has gone down for gang rape, there’s a problem for West Ham United …and I care about that.

Blimey he might just as well have decided to run a poll on whether morality was a good or bad thing.

This isn’t the first time Jack has split opinion although this time around his (or whoever’s) tweets have drawn almost universal condemnation from fans.

The reason for that is very simple and it has nothing to do with competition between ITK’s as they are known on the social network.

It’s to do rather with embarrassment and a deep rooted understanding that no other club in the land would allow such a situation to develop.

WHUFC has a professional media operation and the setting-up of an official twitter feed for our club is now a must.

That would be a first and show tremendous purpose in this media savvy age. It would allow the club to confirm or deny stories, tell us when to expect a signing and let us know when anything worthwhile is about to happen.

It would also allow them to dilute harmful and inaccurate reports from WHEREVER they may emerge!

Jack’s love of all things West Ham is clear and the boy should not be vilified as he has been over recent days.

It’s just not fair and if anyone has been using his account without the courage to name themselves they should be heartily ashamed of themselves.

This situation was always going to end in tears and something now has to give. I feel sorry for the youngster who no doubt is a school yard hero with over 28,000 followers.

But the club and its reputation must come first and something needs to be done fast if we aren’t to remain or become a bigger laughing stock.

Always remember my dad used to say “children should be seen & not heard”. Old fashioned, but, maybe due for a revival

  • Pete says:

Just makes the club look cheap, and who’s feeding him the info.

  • ironage says:

he only asked a question, who cares.

  • me says:

Who gives a toss? He’s 13, leave him alone, if u don’t Like his tweets don’t read them. Coyi.

  • Spence55 says:

Stuff like that is none of his business…just shut the **** up son, your making us all look bad. Why has he been allowed to do this for so long ???? Spoilt little rich kid syndrome methinks

  • Philtheiron says:

Boring! If all these people don’t like it when a little kid is a better source of WHU information than them then tuff! Stop being jealous of a 13yr old and find some other toys to play with! As for the point made well, I for one do not want a convicted rapist playing for my club! Or anybody else with a criminal record for that matter and while we are on the subject I am so glad that the potential gang rapist has gone up north as well! Sometimes important issues can be overlooked. I have been appalled that people of this ilk have been linked with the club I love and any right minded supporter could even contemplate such people and West Ham in the same sentence! (No pun intended! Honest). COYI!

laughing-stock what u on about the boy did the right thing telling the fan do u really what ur kids look up to a person like that ?
And Philtheiron this aint abt remy mate

  • Westhamwag says:

Wasn’t Carroll done for beating up his girlfriend and understand that Morrison has also been done for a mugging with a knife. Hardly the same as a convicted rapist but nonetheless still got police records of some sort.

Perhaps his Dad should put a password on his computer to stop Little Dave stirring the crap !!!!

  • Jack_yetto says:

I reckon it’s really the dad using the account to put things on when he feels necessary.

When I said this basically 6 weeks ago, I pretty much got ripped a new one. This twitter situation is not only making us look a laughing stock but is cheapening the club as well. Sir Alex’s Purple nose would burst every blood vessel if one of his Grandchildren did this. I understand he is young but it his NOT his job to throw around Transfer Targets ames.

Pleas, Please, Please lets just do our business in private like we have for the last 100 or so years. Stories get leaked to the press granted but if we are determined to have our private info sprayed around all over the place then give the job to the media dept who are paid to do this sort of thing. I’m really surprised BFS has not kicked off about this, maybe he should have nipped it in the bud from the beginning. I may even start my own Twitter speculation page (as that is really all it is).

Heres one for you, Ssm watched Lord of the Rings last and Now wants to put in a bid for Gandal. Once he heard “You Shall not Pass”, Sam was sold on the idea of getting as a replacement CB as thats the type of commitment he’s looking for. We probably get him for a bag of Gold, although Sam did say the rest of Gandalfs team-mates were a little bit too small to fit into his system. True Story!!!

      Fair play to jack .
im a life long fan of the hammers and to think we would or could of sign a rapist disgusts me we have been linked with so many players its unbelievable .
we have no intention of spending any more money so why all the fuss.
fair play jack I for one am on your side .

This thread is typical of this site.Negative.The season hasn’t started yet.I haven’t seen you publish a thread that actually supports West Ham.So to all other hammers posting a reply regardless of what young Sullivan says on twitter this site should be renamed forever slagging off West Ham

  • Poacher says:

What a waste of ink. Why should he not have asked the question? Why does it matter that he is only 13 years old. West Ham supporters have a direct line to the owner of the club; we should be thankful, not look down our noses. Well done Father & son – they have never followed convention and have enjoyed tremendous success as a result – Long may it continue.

  • bubbles says:

He is being set up by the porn twins to make stories creditable . No money and no intention of buying any of the strikers mentioned . Too many mugs out there believing this crap and buying season tickets which is what it is all about !!

  • laclaw says:

Point is, would we have known that geezer woz a filthy rapist if it woz not for Jack ? … Perhaps Newcasle utd could do with their own Jack, I know He aint been convicted yet, But im so glad “Remy the rapist” didnt turn up, ffs could you imagine being linked with 2 of em.. Are the BBC and and the board of nufc the same people ? what really concerns me is their fans are over the moon !! .. Hang ya head in shame .. we shall have to start calling em NONCECASTLE UTD…

  • hammer says:

Who do u speak for not me if you have right to comment on west ham so does jack sullivan its called freedom of speech what our fathers fought for all I can see is a 13 yr old being bullied you should be ashamed ofyourself

  • Westhamjay says:

Good on him… The fans want to know what’s going on and young jack is telling us… Like a lot of us he’s west ham to the bone. And as for people saying he’s making it up to sell season tickets it’s a load of bolloks!!! Fans will go and watch west ham because we’re loyal fans not because we’re trying to sign someone.

  • nailhammer says:

Never mind what Jack or anybody else is tweeting same old rip off West Ham champions league priced season tickets championship priced transfer targets, look where Bony,Remy and all the other names West Ham have been touting around have gone to clubs charging much less than West Ham for seats, the skinflints simply wont pay the going rate, but they know how to charge it.Dont forget it costs nearly a £1 per minute to watch them now .We have secured big Andy mainly because no one else wanted to take a chance on Him I like Him but He is unproven so it is a risk. I think we deserve two more top players in this window or the new stadium will make us a laughing stock.

  • VivaBM6 says:

First time I’ve felt the need to comment. Two points.
1: the fans have been asked to make a decision on whether a player should be signed. Following the response, (and its not the first time, diouf springs to mind) we have decided not to sign the player. They club is listening!
2: we are the only club in the country to listen to our fans in this way.
Is this such a bad thing? How long have we asked to be listened to?
Jack asked a question, like it or not, which was answered. The club listened to the fans.
I am proud to be a fan of West Ham UNITED!, and I’m in full support of jack, he is one of us! One of a kind!. Keep up the good work jack.

  • Spyinthesky says:

Shame that such a Rational contribution should be rubbished by some, many of whom seem not to have actually read it, or if they have, simply ignored what it said. Sullivan’s twitter account is either deliberately fed by dad to mislead and fool us or is a young boy bigging him self up by publishing snippets of info that is then presented as gospel when they are anything but. Makes the club look like amateur night at the keystone cops social club.
