Should West Ham Bring Back This Former Hammer?

Jonjo ShelveyOn Sunday the 7th of April West Ham fans away at Liverpool chanted towards Jonjo Shelvey that “Harry Potter, he’s coming for you!”. Rumours this transfer window have speculated that the previous West Ham youth player Shelvey is a target for Big Sam.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Jonjo is currently away with the England Under 21’s in the European Championships. He only made 19 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League during last season. However, he was more prominent in the Europa League campaign scoring 4 times in 4 starts. Liverpool are keen to raise funds after some ludicrous spending from previous managers (Downing, Henderson, Carroll etc) so Jonjo could be on his way out. The rumoured price is around the £4million mark as Liverpool try to make some profit on the previous £1.5million pound man in 2010.

I have watched Jonjo a few times and have been reasonably impressed. I feel as he is just 21 years old he could be the perfect replacement for Nolan when he moves on or retires, he could also be almost tutored by the skipper.

However, Norwich have reportedly offered £8million for Jonjo. Quite a staggering amount and I’d personally quite like to rule us out immediately! I wrote the above article before this bid became a rumour. And at the time of writing this edit the bid is not yet confirmed.

How do you feel about Jonjo?

What about the £4million price tag?

I would like him for around 4 mill if not we still ravel Morrison and I think if we bring him along this season he will be a better player that Jonjo

No thanks. The way he was giving it large when Joe Cole scored against us earlier on in the year. Let Liverpool keep him.

i watched his videos a few weeks ago and was genuinely impressed. he’s strong, got a nice touch, and knows where the goal is. He is also a free kick “specialist” a quality we are lacking in the squad. He also seems like a nice lad (even if some of his challenges look horrendous)… the fact that he’s a WH fan wins so many points with me! Not just because he’s one of us, but because loving the club means you get more on the pitch.
He’s one of the players i hope we sign this summer. Maybe not a starter every game next season but he’s got a long career ahead of him.

From the names mentioned lately I’d get in Shelvey AND Benat for the middle of the park. My preference up front is Negrado (quality player!) then Carroll (if he commits). I’d like both. + 1 more striker. Potentially Hooper because he’s a local lad.
The only other 2 positions i think we would need players – centre back (cover), and right wing.

But of course, that would all be £50 million plus and surely we’re not playing with that sort of money.

very much underated is Shelvey would be a great buy for West Ham. Ravel can stay where he is, Shelvey already proven at top level and does not come with baggage re ravel

  • Domwhu says:

Everyone knows that ravel possesses the greater natural ability of the two and from what I’ve read he has cooled down and matured a lot while on loan.
I don’t think midfield is the place we should be focussing on, we have Diame, Nolan, noble and collison all comfortable through the middle and ravel in a few years time!
Find 2 strikers and some defensive cover and that is all we need for next season. Boom.

Shelvey looks a class player and he has age on his side which also means with playing time which we will be able to give him he will improve, so at 4mil he could be a bargain.

I think carroll should without a doubt be our first choice and hopefully he signs as the second half of the season is what he will be like next year if fully fit so if we also get shelvey i think him and carroll will be a great parrnershio especially if shelvey can learn from nolan.

As it is being said we will sign 2 or more strikers i would like us to get hooper as his performances in europe last year show he is a handful for defenders and a hardworker which will go down well with the west ham faithfull, although another striker we are being linked with is not sucha hardworker his goal scoring record speaks for its self darren bent would be a great signing and also a bargain at 4-5 mil.

If we get those signings i think next season will be a great one COYI!!!!!!!

  • Robert clegg says:

Why on earth would anybody want to play for fat Sam plus you keep trying to rip us off over carrol but then you take that crap bastard joe cole of us lol

  • blimey says:

As far as bringing back old/ex players…. Rumors suggest Jose is not planning on keeping Demba Ba……

  • Stant says:

One of the worst english players to play in the premier league. Everytime I see him he is below average, even the Liverpool fans get on his back. The way he was with us when he came to Upton Park and was invloved in their goal, claiming it for himself when it was an own goal. The way he put glasses to his eyes as if to say we were stupid for releasing him as a youngster. Trying to prove his point from a goal he didn’t even score.

We were right to release him, don’t want him back.

  • Mr bean says:

Stefan kiessling/ demba ba, , Sinclair/Maloney/mcmanaman, leroy fer, free agents to look at: Pablo aimar, Figueroa, malouda.

  • the hammer says:

we must be keeping an eye on the morrison situation all the noises i keep hearing about him sound very positive my cousin is a brum fan and cant sing his praises enough i say give him a chance we dont need shelvey
