Free Agents For West Ham To Consider

roque santa cruzWith the ever present topic of transfer fee’s, wages, would it be worth a gamble to look on the free agent market and maybe snatch a bargain or two!

Sam Allardyce has a decent track record of ‘reinventing’ players’ careers and getting the best out of individuals (look at Joey O’Brien, Mohammed Diame, Jussi Jaaskelainen, etc.)

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

David Bentley- Once described as the next ‘David Beckham’ Bentley’s career was destined for greatness.

David’s big money move came when he joined Tottenham Hotspur from Blackburn Rovers in 2008 for a fee believed to be around £15 million; things quickly plummeted for the right midfielder. With underwhelming loan spells to Birmingham, ourselves, Fc Rostov and a return to former club Blackburn. It appears that the self-proclaimed David Beckham is in desperate need of a fresh start.

A typical Big Sam player, with the ability to cross the ball into a big target man, although he never possessed blistering pace I see him as more of an impact player or cover. Once again wages could prove to be the stumbling block but this is more of a case of him needing us than us needing him.

Roque Santa Cruz-For cover purposes alone you would expect Santa Cruz to do a good enough job; spending the last couple of seasons in Spain for Real Betis and Malaga, respectively.

Santa Cruz has managed to find the net on a good few occasions, proving he still has an eye for the goal. By no means would he be our first choice attacker but considering our current striking crisis and lack of fire power, it wouldn’t be the worst bit of business we have ever done.

At the age of 31 we could expect to get a least another couple seasons out of Roque but concerns will be voiced as John Carew was 31 when he joined West Ham and struggled at Championship level, with interest resurfacing from Spain, don’t be surprised if Roque decides to stay in the sun for the long haul.

Danny Simpson- Ex Manchester United and Newcastle right back Danny Simpson seems to be regularly linked with us, with his departure from the ‘Toon’ is it possible that Danny could be heading to Upton Park? Another player Sam is familiar with and still only 26 Danny could prove to be our new long term right back. An area we are currently competent in and although good seasons for both questions remain as to Guy Demel’s and Joey O’Brien’s top flight ability. With Simpson eager to remain in the Premiership and interested in a move to London citing ‘personal reasons’ it would appear that Danny Simpson would be well fitted to life in East London. We may have to act quickly with this one as QPR and West Brom remain favourites at the moment.

I’d personally like to see more flair players at West Ham. I’ve been watching Keisuke Honda for a number of years now and I think the guy is world class. A dead-ball specialist too, I’m sure with him in the team AC would find the back of the net a lot more. There appears to be interest from Milan but surely it is worth a punt. Sell him the vision of the club and a nice pay packet too and he’d be crazy not to consider WH.

I’d also like to see Malouda and Arshavin at WH. They may be past their best but I think they would bring more to the table than Matt Taylor and Vaz Te. The competition for places may even encourage Taylor and Vaz Te to up their games.

      Anyone agree?

    Lets hope none of these.
My friend knows Bentley, he’s admitted he’s finished to him, just trying to get one last contract.
Dabby Simpson, to busy trying to get in the papers, more bling than football.
Santa Cruz, maybe 4 years ago, lost all pace and busy counting his Man City lolly.

I reckon we need some younger hungry players, I would prefer to give Ravel a go rather than Bentley.
One thing w emust do is hang on to Hall, I’ve seen loads of him growing up at Little heath etc, very like Ashley Young and can’t believe he might go to Bolton, must hold onto this young talent.
Still think we are 3 short, and if we get rid of 4 squad players, probably 5 short for the squad.
Worries me if carrol gets inured, we are very light up front.
Maybe there are a few youngsters big Sams thinking of moving up.

    Ayew ??

I’d let all of these potentials just pass by. Sorry. … As for Carew, it wasn’t his age that was the problem is was his questionable ability and commitment. God knows how he carved out the career he did! A massive blot on BS’s record that one. … Bendtner would be another waste of time and money.
Look at the odds on which players are likely to sign for WH. Anelka is odds on. Crouch 3/1. Ba 6/1. Shelvey 6/1.
.. I’d be more than happy with the 3 strikers – Anelka, Ba and Carroll. Exchange one of those for Negrado and I’d be ecstatic!
I’d also be happy with Shelvey added in the middle. Exchange him for Benat and I’d be doubly ecstatic!!
Then 1 right wing and 1 centre back cover.

Bentley is finished. No for me.

Danny Simpson is robbing a living. No for me.

Santa Cruz has had his day (with Blackburn). No for me.

I’d take Malouda (if we can pay his wages), and I probably would have gone for Pennant had Hughes not signed him again for Stoke.

and plz west ham go after honda

  • paraiso says:

enough of freebies most of the time that´s why their free, lets go for GOLD i´d like to think neither BA or MOSES will fit into Mourinho´s plans, lets try to get them both on a seasons loan with a view to buy, sign a decent midfielder and we´d be flying (no harm in dreaming).

  • hammer fan says:

We need some one to link up with Carroll some one like Ba!

  • blimey says:

Danny Simpson??? Do me a favour, JOB and Demel are both better. Splash the cash for Ba.
