In the last week or so, West Ham United have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has had a superb season on loan at West Bromwich Albion this season, scoring 17 goals and a hat-trick on the last game of the season against the champions, Manchester United. He is another product of Belgium which seems to be popping out world class footballers all over the place at the minute!
I’m not a fan of making comparisons to other players; however, Lukaku has similar attributes to those of Didier Drogba. He stands around 6ft 3in, has pace to burn, is physically strong, and is a good finisher. At the age of 20 years old, he is only going to get better, and can see him being a top centre forward for many years to come.
He would fit into the West Ham team well, having that physical element that Big Sam likes his strikers to have, but the thing Lukaku would add is pace up front. Playing away from home this season, it’s the one thing West Ham have lacked. With a counter attack, you need quick players, and a player who can finish, and Lukaku is ideal.
The deal would only be a loan, unless Chelsea are willing to let him go for a small fee, which isn’t going to happen. I don’t like loaning players, as its short term, and if they do well, bigger clubs are likely to poach them. However, Lukaku and Carroll as our two main strikers next season, well, its mouth-watering just thinking about it…….
Here’s to a successful summer of transfer dealings, ready to challenge the top ten again next season!
COME ON YOU IRONS!!

Even if it was only a loan deal, having him & Carroll would give us great options
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha oh stop it as if?rotflmao the guy has too much humility and class to join the porn baron wagon.i’ll show my bum in harrods shop window if Rom goes there
ha ha ha ha ha ha your funny and rom is such a class act.
Well of you go the clown.
why would he go to west ham rather than stay with west brom? that would make no sense whatsoever
well west ham are in london and a much bigger club,
The ‘sense’ would be going to a bigger, better club like West Ham rather than spending another year with the overachieving championship side West Brom. Also, its less smelly in London
over achieving?we just done 3 top half finishes on the bounce while your lot may get second season syndrome next year
as for being smelly well theres more foriegners down smoke than anywhere in uk in other words laandan is a shit hole
can’t see it myself but it would be nice to have a decent striker, anyone else relieved carlton cole hasn’t got the new contract he wanted?
Well said Julio. mark west brom are shit they will go down next year proper pony team
Sadly I reckon this is utter fantasy. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him in a Chelsea starting 11 after the season he’s had.
cant see that flamineo chelsea will be looking to win the prem next year he will be on the bench at best.
I wouldn’t mind betting he stays at chelsea. Especially if they get their special case manager back ! KWIM !
Of course he would be better of at West Ham . Put your mortgage on West Brom to go down if he leaves them . They don’t have another player that any one wants … always a bad sign .
We won’t get him, but he won’t be at west brom, either, any player with any class wouldn’t want too play for west brom, I agree with the above, West Brom will struggle next season and be fighting relaxation by by baggies
Sam plays 1 up front with Nolan as the second striker so I doubt Lukaku and Carroll would ever start together. Personally it’s a strike force I’d love to see though. Lukaku and Bony would be my no.1 choice before that too.
You West Ham fans make me laugh….
Lukaku would never join a club like West Ham, also the same he will not be at West Brom next season.
But for you to come out and say West Ham are Bigger than West Brom well, you all need a reality check. Yes you may have a bigger fan base and Stadium, but they have finished above you the last 2 seasons…
Richard,
You’re a simple man aren’t you. You accept that West Ham are ahead on the two of the widely acknowledged fundamental criteria for defining the size of a club over another – then say we need a reality check because of league placing?
What defines a ‘bigger’ club? Fan base? check (and admitted by you already) Stadium? check (and again, admitted). I would also suggest historic success? check. Potential for growth? check.
By YOUR definition alone, Norwich are bigger than the Barcodes, Villa and Sunderland? WBA have excelled this season beyond most ppl’s expectation and played some excellent football along the way. But to use THAT criteria as the sole basis of your assertion is superficial and ignorant. Tis you that requires the reality check I fear….and a little education.
We west ham won the1969 World Cup enough said
