West Ham Target Free Agent

Danny SimpsonSo, it was announced that Danny Simpson was to leave Newcastle United at the end of the season and he is now a free agent.West Ham have been linked with a move but is he the right man for us?

Danny Simpson is a right back and is currently 26 years old. He hardly played any first team football for Newcastle this season but when he has had the opportunity to play, he did do well. I think the main thing we have to look at is Simpson compared to our current players.

This season, Guy Demel has played at right back and in my opinion has done a good job there. However, Demel is 31 years old where as Simpson is only 26. But then you have also got to look at Joey O’Brien whose natural position is right back but has filled in very well at left back for the majority of the season, due to injuries. He has played very well at left back and that must mean that he would be even better playing in his natural position at right back.

I think we also need to look at, would we only be buying this player because he is on a free. I mean, if Danny Simpson was a target for West Ham but we were required to have to spend money on him, would you buy him? For me, I wouldn’t buy him if we had to pay which I think shows that he wouldn’t be that much of an improvement on our current squad.

However, the main question is; should we sign him? It’s a tough one really because I would have liked to have seen how O’Brien played if he had played the whole season at right back. But I probably would opt to sign Simpson because I have said before that we probably need a new right back. It’s a shame we didn’t buy Nathaniel Clyne when we had the chance.

So many of us at the toon do not want Simpson to go.he has always given !00% and doesn’t make many mistakes. He would be a good asset to any team, but we have Pardew and I suppose you guys know all about that.Never mind, shit happens.

the way we should look at it is-is he an improvement on what we already have????thatd be a yes-simpson is an upgrade over demel, which means job would be cover for both rb and lb and demel is expendable.

A lot of Newcastle United fans are amazed at the club letting Danny go – we’d rather keep him. It’s obviously just Ashley and his scrooge mentality.
If you can get him, I think you’d be pleasantly surprised at how good he is.

Should have signed Clyne, like you say. Such a shame, we never sign the good youngsters. We should sign Redmond as a replacement for Vaz Te, though its not likely to happen

as a toon supporter i think it would be a great signing for the hammers. would loved to have seen him given another contract, only fault with danny is his crossing into the box but the amount of times last season he saved newcastle with decent defending and goal line clearance’s and all joking aside look how well former toon players have played for you’s Nolan,Carroll so noting to lose free signing go for it

I don’t think he is a big inprovent on the two right backs that we have what we need is a fast right back and left back both under the age of 25 . I’d like to see us go and get malony from Wigan would give us flair and he is a Sam type player

Simpson is a very good player but JOB has been Mr 100% for me this season. His never give up attitude has inspired the rest of the lads. I also think that Guy Demel has held his own more than capably at RB. We also have Jordan Spence waiting in the wings. It’s a difficult one but if we do buy Simpson then sadly somebody will have to go. I wouldn’t like to say who.

If Vaz Te goes then I would go for McMannaman from Wigan.

Any Newcastle “fan” that thinks Danny Simpson is a good player has obviously never watched us for a good couple of seasons most goals come from his side and the boy consistently crosses the ball over the cross bar the guy is shit only redeeming thing about Danny Simpson is the guys commitment apart from that he’s a championship player

Read today that Celtic keeper Fraser Forster is considering moving back to England to try and further his international claim. Saw him play many times whilst on loan at Norwich and he did a brilliant job. Norwich wanted to sign him but couldn’t agree a fee with Newcastle.
Think Sam should give a good think over as he seems to be in the market for a keeper.
