FIVE Things West Ham Need To Do Before Moving To The Olympic Stadium

Olympic-StadiumThe Olympic Stadium has been the talk of the West Ham United supporters since David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady secured our tenancy there for the next 99 years.  However, with move not happening until the stadium has been transformed into our new home, there are going to be plenty of things to do between now and the 2016/17 season.  Here are the 5 most important things:

Survival – Sam Allardyce needs to make sure we stay in the Premier League this season, to make sure we are on a firm footing for the next few years.  With limited resources, Allardyce has managed to get rid of the ‘dead wood’ left by previous managers, and get a close knit squad, who play with fight and passion.  It may not get the result every week, but I think Allardyce has done enough this season to make sure we are in the top league again next season, and more importantly, get a share of the money from the new television deal.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

Better players – this comes in the summer to move us on from ‘just surviving’ to establish us as a Premier League team again.  The chairmen need to invest in better players so that we can push on, and finish higher up in the league.  We need to either move the fringe players on, or at least have them as cover so we can rotate the team a little in the Cup games.

Debt – The Chairmen have done an amazing job in reducing the debt within the club.  They took on the Carlos Tevez fine from the previous regime, and it was estimated that we had about £110m worth of debt, and with the Icelandics playing with the club like a computer game, it nearly bankrupted us.  Mr Gold and Mr Sullivan have done well to get us this far, and we need to continue to reduce the debt over the next 3 seasons – I imagine the sale of Upton Park may help with this.

Investment – The hard work was well under way last summer when Allardyce was appointed and had to get us back into the Premier League.  However, behind the scenes, the Chairmen now need to find suitable investment into the club, if they want to take us to the next level as a club.  Straumur still have quite a large chunk of the club, and it would be good to get rid of them, and replace them with an investor who wants to plough money into the club.  We also need this investment for when we move to Stratford, after all, we don’t want to have rubbish team playing in a state of the art stadium now do we?!

Enjoy Upton Park – It’s going to be very emotional when we leave Upton Park.  All of our history is there, and it is where our heroes graced the turf and where all of our memories were made.  So we need to make sure, as supporters, that we make the final 3 seasons at The Boleyn Ground, ones to remember.  Let’s enjoy the ground, let’s make it a fortress again, let’s give it the biggest send off we can – Upton Park will always be home for West Ham, but let’s embrace the move to the new ground, and make some new memories.

5 things west ham NEED TO DO .get a life and leave it to the people who actually have a say and also know what they are doing get on with it. people like you know nothing and have know say . have an opinion fine but don’t act like you know anything about the running of a club

I’m pretty sure it is clear that these are individual opinions, no need for a comment like that. All of those points make perfect sense to me. With the increased TV revenue next season we should become more comfortable financially and hopefully this means we can add a bit more quality to the first XI. I’m undecided over Carroll, however four or five more goals this season will give BIg Sam and the owners a tough decision to make over the summer of whether to try and make his move permanent. In my opinion, we should bring in a goalkeeper, two fullbacks and either someone to support Carroll or lead the line next season. Easier said than done of course.

I write my articles in order to spark a debate. If you don’t agree then that’s fine, but don’t become abusive because we don’t all agree with your opinion.

If you have something to contribute, then I would like to see it written in proper sentences, with the reasons why you think that.

We need to play like barcelona, no more said on the matter. The best team in the world, as far as am concerned, apart from westham that is. Macca westham.

  • Tommyiron says:

Revolutionary style of play is what is needed, good footy puts bums on seats & that’s what we need for a Bigger stadium better players better style of play. Then move in Olympic park!

Chelmo I think you raised some good points, not everybody agrees with the move of stadium but I think thats the only way we are going to move forward as a club, were not in a position to buy a new stadium so moving to the olympic stadium makes good sense even though upton park will always be our true home . It will help to sign better players and obviously we will have a bigger budget. Then fingers crossed if it all works out we can get more investors and get in the champs league.
