West Ham Loan Watch

|

Robert HallConsidering West Ham’s return to the Premier League, the top tier of English football, the decision to loan some of the fringe players out was a good one in my opinion. Players that are ready to play a higher standard of competitive football than the u21’s but not quite ready for the fierce demands of the Premier League.

Rob Hall, Ravel Morrison and Blair Turgott are 3 promising players that have been touted for promising future careers, and are currently on loan at Birmingham City, and Blair at Bradford City. Hall has featured 11 times for Lee Clarke’s side scoring 0 goals so far, however has impressed with fast, attacking displays and has several assists to his name. He can also take a brilliant corner (music to many Hammers’ ears). Turgott has played 4 times for the Bantams scoring 0 goals too but has played a key part in their fairytale journey to Wembley in the Capital One Cup.

Morrison is the man in the spotlight. His attitude on the training ground led to Clarke wanting to terminate the deal, however an uplift in the ex Man U man’s behaviour has led to him being back in the side and back amongst the headlines with “elegant effortless displays of ability, passing and work rate”. Sir Alex Ferguson himself said that the 20 year old is the best thing to come out of the United academy since Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, high praise indeed. If he can curb the attitude and focus on his game, I believe he has a very bright future ahead.

Other players out on loan include Alou Diarra, the French international at Rennes, Stephen Henderson at Ipswich and young striker Paul McCallum at AFC Wimbledon. If these young lads continue to grow as players and improve then the future is looking good. The future is claret and blue.
