Should West Ham Be Looking To Sign This Free Agent?

|

Craig GorrdonI’m actually shocked that Craig Gordon is still a free agent, after being released by Sunderland at the end of last season and with Jussi Jaaskelainen getting on a bit, I definitely think it’s worth signing the Scot.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

With back-up goalkeeper Stephen Henderson still lacking Premier League experience and the fact that it seemed we were apparently ready to trade him for Blackburn Rovers’ Paul Robinson, I don’t see who at the club would be Jääskeläinen’s natural successor.

Gordon has 5 years of Premier League experience under his belt, and at the moment we are definitely thin on the ground for goalies, with Hendo on loan to Ipswich Town.

Being a free agent, I doubt he’d make huge wage demands, and would be a solid back up to Jussi in case of injury, and because he’s only 30 he could be a long-term replacement plan.

Looking for experience? Just want to be heard outside of the Boleyn? We are currently looking for writers, drop us an email at foreverwestham@snack-media.com for more details

At the time of signing him, Sunderland paid the British record fee for a goalkeeper, and he’s even got a save of the season award!

He may have fallen off the radar of some, but I think that Gordon would definitely be a solid signing for the club, especially on a free!

What do you think; should we go for Gordon or is there a better choice? As always, leave a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.

Good shout i’d say. Completely forgot about him to be completely honest. He would probably have to work on his fitness and such but could spend a few month on the bench and challenge for starting position next season. I know he was badly injured at some point if memory serves. Haven’t really followed his career though. Anyway…if he can stay fir he might yet live up to his potential. 30 is still relatively young for a keeper as he could have a good 6 years ahead.

He’s a free agent because he has a serious knee issue that hasn’t healed in over a year.

He’s not capable of playing football at this time.

He was, however, an excellent keeper when fit.

Get him in miles better then jussi

If he was still any good don’t you think someone would of snapped him up? When did he last play a top flight game? He wouldn’t be any better than bunging Speigel in and he isn’t better than Jussi. If he had been in goal instead of that clown Green we wouldn’t of gone down.

Are you having a laugh? Signing this walking injury disaster would be liking signing dyer with keepers gloves! Jussi maybe getting on a bit but please don’t tar him with the same brush! Over the piece jussi has proven to be a very reliable keeper this season! Gordon before his long list of injuries was an exceptional keeper, especially at hearts. But the injuries unfortunately have taken their toll and signing him would prove to be a risk to far. Why didn’t we sign butland? Or better still try for begavitz(sorry about spelling)at stoke? A very good keeper!
