Should he walk back in?

|

So with Andy Carroll reportedly returning to training last week and thusly nearing a return to first team action; should the most expensive man in the history of English football walk straight back into West Ham’s starting XI?

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

I personally don’t think so. Lord knows we were all stunned and to coin a cliché ‘happy as Larry’ when Carroll rocked up in August; as we were convinced he was going to score the goals to keep us out of the perennial relegation battles that unfortunately have become the hallmark of West Ham United’s Premier League campaigns.

Andy Carroll thus far has a solitary strike to his name and whilst he’s certainly roughed up his fair share of Premier League defences; his goal threat/goal return has left a lot to be desired for a man who cost 35 million of your finest English pounds.

We obviously haven’t scored enough goals in the first half of the season; hence why Sam Allardyce has already moved to bring in Marouane Chamakh and why Wellington Paulista will shortly be a Hammer.

With the aforementioned signings we now have one of the most precious commodities in football…competition for places. In no way shape or form should Carroll upon regaining fitness waltz straight back into the first team, no he must battle it out with Cole, Chamakh and Paulista (when his deal is wrapped up)

This is a very exciting period in the history of our great club and the principle reason for this is that we now have competition all over the pitch; to get in the West Ham team and stay there will now require 8/9 out of 10 performances every week. Such competiveness will invariably get the best out of everyone; this will perhaps be most prevalent up front as we only play with one striker.

The challenge has been extended not just to Andy Carroll but to every striker now at Sam’s disposal.

I agree. Cole has done just as much if not more in AC’s absence and AC just hasn’t been worth the investment IMO. The missing piece at the moment is Diame but unfortunately because he and AC got injured at a similar time AC fans believe that our results dipped because we are missing AC when in fact losing Diame has been the big influence. I think we need to start playing two up front against teams we should be beating and with a more creative midfield of J.Cole, Noble, Diame and Vaz/Jarvis the goals will come

  • Why not? Assuming he gets a hair cut & has a shave first 🙂 I don’t think we’ve ever had a pony tailed player before, best not start now.

U so right lee-the boy needs a hair cut pronto! He always winges when it inevitably gets pulled in a match and he’s always faffing about with it-I think its a liability, surprised Sam hasnt ordered a squady cut. I think he was good for us when he arrived but would now gladly loose him purely down too his ridiculous price tag and injury.Hes also not a loyal hammer. Our boyz are stars, don’t think hes worth the money with the hair liability.lol

To be fair, Carroll didn’t cost Liverpool £35million of your finest British pounds. We paid them in crumpled fives, torn tens and tattered twenties, with the remainder made up from couch coins.

So who got the bad end of that deal now, eh?

    Mwahahaha…

this is what will happen,he will start his first match back on the bench cole will fail to score in what ever match that will be. than carroll will come on midway though the 2nd period of that game and keep his place from than on in no matter if he gets on the score sheet or not.

Carroll, Diame, collision, diarra, cole (j), Vaz te, with more to come, just what a squad we are building up! And to think not so long ago it was all doom and gloom looking over our shoulders at relegation battle! What a season! Now we can concentrate on looking onwards and upwards! COYI!
