RVT not cut out for the PL?

|

West Ham’s number 12 has been a talking point of this so far successful season. Many doubt Ricardo Vaz Te’s ability and whether he has adapted sufficiently to the top tier of English football.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

After several weeks on the sidelines due to an injury sustained against Arsenal, the man who scored THE goal of last season made his return in the away fixture at Reading. After that long out it isn’t out of the question that player would be rusty, and yes, everyone makes mistakes. However the Portuguese’s miss from 3 yards out which cost us a point was a reoccurrence of the form he had showed prior to injury.

With one goal in 7 appearances so far this term, the man who as some sing “scores when he wants”, isn’t exactly reproducing the form that saw him become an instant hit last season. His overall game far from impresses me this season, and I am starting to lose patience with the former Barnsley man.

With Carlton Cole performing to a high standard, Andy Carroll in the squad as well as the newly added Marouane Chamakh, Vaz Te is struggling to get a chance up front, where some fans on twitter say he would perform to his best. As some of you know I am a big Carlton Cole fan, so the thought of dropping him for the man in question doesn’t appeal to me one bit, and I also think Carroll and co are a lot better than him. Although Vaz has played on the right, the return of Jack Collison, in my eyes at least, rules him out there too.

To sum the question up in one word, my answer would be, no. I don’t think Vaz Te has got what it takes, but I’d be very happy to see him prove me wrong.

Cole hasn’t exactly been amazing like you said. He has almost twice as many games and only 1 more goal.

    give him some time.

  • andy brown says:

carlton cole showed exactly what he is last season a championship player vaz te is exactly the same for the rightprice flog them both

    • stuart says:

you havnt got a clue ,if you go and watch west ham then you would no ,carlton cole ok is not prolific but his work rate and never say die attitude week in week out ,vaz te is a lazy arse bottles out of headers and tackles big sam needs to look at this and i wouldnt be sorry to see him go ….coyis

      • Hugh Bevan says:

You are a right about CC Stuart but you haven’t got a clue what you are on about with Vaz. Without Vaz we have no attacking option on the wing (granted J.Cole is now an option.) Jarvis has been utter rubbish and in half the games Vaz has done more(stats don’t lie).

        • stuart says:

I HOPE YOU PROOVE ME WRONG ABOUT RVT ANOTHER 5 GAMES AND HE SHOULD BE MATCH FIT,AGAINST NORWICH HE NEVER CHALLENGED FOR ONE HEADER OR PUT A TACKLE IN THATS WHY IM ON HIS CASE

  • Potts60 says:

RVT is key a key player and gives the side better balance haven’t you noticed how we are actually attacking from the right hand? Also protects right back better than anybody else we have…so I don’t agree.

    • Potts60 says:

Perhaps your getting to like BFS style a little to much? RVT doesn’t just kick the ball forward or sideways but actually holds it playing 5yrd balls and retaining possession, do you remember this style..?

  • Hugh Bevan says:

1 in 7 is better than Carrolls record and Vaz is played out of position in the midfield. If Vaz played up front he would score more. He has been far better than Jarvis on the wing yet Jarvis is still given a chance. Give him half the time Jarvis and Carroll get from the fans and he will do much more, despite in far less games already doing as much if not more than both of them. Ricardo Vaz Te is a striker but not a lone striker. If we played two up top or even a 4-3-3 we might see more of him. It is not Vaz’s fault that Big Sam plays him out of position week in week out and he has been better than Jarvis this season who has 1 goal and 0 assists in 17 appearances which is utter rubbish from a player who cost 10 million.
Vaz scored 24 goals last season yet you already assume he can’t do it in the PL despite being played out of position and hasn’t got a run of games because of his injury. Really don’t like this article, getting after a player who actually plays well for us (1 goal and 2 assists in 9 games against Jarvis’s 1 goal 0 assists in 17 and AC’s 1 goal in 12) yet you choose to say he is not cut out for the PL. Unbelievable.

Does everyone jut think vaz ye is a striker jut because he’s one on FIFA?! He has played upfront for us onc maye twice, player on the wing in every other game, scored his goals from there yet people think he’s a striker. I’d like to keep vaz and I think he can do it but recently he’s been very lazy, even the players were getting angry at him. He’s a confidence player though and if we get behind him we could start to see him putting in some good performances again, early in the season him and deep had complete understanding and if we can get them working together again then we might see the old vaz back

      • Hugh Bevan says:

oh sorry mate, I forgot Vaz Te started his career at West Ham so the position he plays for us is where he has always played. My bad… In the championship he played in midfield but could push forward a lot more and play as a winger because we had such a good squad in the championship. This season he has not played on the wing once. He has always been played left or right MIDFIELD. He is a striker/winger and in no capacity did he start out as a midfielder. He is not lazy he has just come back from a fairly long lay off so he will still be getting back to match fitness. Players get annoyed with each other every game so don’t try and pinpoint him as the only person they get annoyed it because it just simply isn’t true and don’t liken my footballing knowledge to that of someone who goes by what FIFA says. We haven’t lost the old Vaz, he has been injured for half the games and when he does play he is played out of position. Despite that he is still better than Jarvis who is BFS’s favourite wing option.

        • Sam says:

At Barnsley and Bolton he also played the majority of his games on the wing. I like vaz te but I think we do need Jarvis as he will stick to te touch line and offer natural width whilst a joe cole or a vaz te will be coming more central and trying to get into the box. I’m hoping once ricardo’s fitter he’ll start taking players on again, that’s when he was at his best. Admittedly some games, particularly away, we’re too defensive so we don’t get the support up to cole so i agree vaz te should be given a more free role rather than too much defending, but at the moment this depends on him getting fit again. I think we should stick with joe cole an Jarvis starting for a few weeks until vaz te can get his fitness levels up and then push for a starting place. I just don’t think he’d be a better option as a striker than what we already have, I think he should be back on the Wing comin in at the back post where he was so effective last season, nearly all his goals were from cole distracting their players and vaz finishing well from the far post, so if Jarvis delivers some good crosses we could have a good partnership on our hands

  • Potts60 says:

Hugh your on the money enough said.

  • michaelf says:

Crikey give the guy a chance he has been injured most of the season and when he is fully fit he will adapt and has potential to score more then Cole and Carrol He maybe should get the chance to play central as he is good in the air.

  • Dean says:

Carlton cole has played crap misses to many EASY!! Chances, I think we are the only team where our defenders score more then our strikers!
Lets hope with the new players in, we can turn it around!!

  • h says:

IMO we have much better options upfront eg. Chamakh/CC. And much better options in midfield, Collison, Cole etc. Vaz Te IMO just isn’t as good as the players competing for the places.

  • legends11 says:

i remember the arsenal game being similar to the liverpool game. we were doing well until vaz te got injured against arsenal then it all fell apart. similar to diame. … he’s been rushed back, missed 1 sitter, and now he’s championship? … He’ll come good given a run in the side, i’m sure.

  • Algy says:

He will be gone in the summer, i think he will lose his place to Robert Hall.

  • ryan says:

WOW!!! This article, im sorry is just utter utter S#@!

I suppose Van Persie would be a lower league player if he gets injured and comes back a bit rusty will he?
You should write for the daily sport mate. They will love you there.

    • h says:

Cheers pal! And no I didn’t say that, before injury he looked like he wasn’t up to it.

      • ryan says:

Whether he looks up for it and does it are two different things. His stats are still better than some others yet he dislocated his shoulder, and he doesn’t look up to it. Is your article based on the fact he isnt doing the business or that you think he doesn’t look up to it? Go and moan somewhere else and support the team. For christ sake, this is the best team I have seen in a long long long time, yet some people are not happy. Amazing really! The fact we are disappointed to draw with man u, and lose to them earlier in the season thinking we deserved more says it all. Oh…. and we only just got promoted. Whine somewhere else please.

        • h says:

When did I moan about the team in any shape or form in this article? I expressed my opinion on one player and one player alone. I support the team through thick and thin going to nearly every game in a season so don’t disrespect me by saying that.
