Rumour Mill: Exactly what we need!

|

With reports circulating that Adam Johnson is unhappy at Manchester City as he seeks first team football, a move to the Hammers could act as a perfect remedy for his needs.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

West Ham’s need for a winger is of top priority for Big Sam and both of the Dave’s, and a player of his quality is not to be sniffed at. Johnson is international class and his speed and flair is just what the doctor ordered for the east end club.

With bids for Jarvis and Boukari it is clear the lack of wingers is worrying Big Sam, and I for one agree, in our formation it is vital that we have flair on both wings. As much as I rate Taylor he lacks pace. With Ricardo Vaz Te on one wing and the potential of Johnson on the other it would really as flair and quality in the attacking areas of pitch, something we have been crying out for for years.

With a big man up top, balls flying in from the wings with the crossing ability of Vaz Te and either Jarvis who is keen on a move or Johnson who is becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of first team football the goals would fly in.

So why should we sign Johnson?

He is everything we need, quick, skilful and a good crosser he ticks every box in the book. Not only that but he has a wand of a left foot, good from set pieces and with experience in the Premier League. His confident will be high having just picked up his first Premier League winners medal. So I urge the owners to fork out the money to sign him.

Another player linked with a move to the east end is Pape Moussa Konate, who it is believed to have had his work permit accepted on appeal, is a player who really excites me. Having watched him closely at the Olympics he looks a very technically gifted player and we’ve all seen what effect a Senegalese player can have on a side with Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse at Newcastle. Here’s hoping his captain at the Olympics has had a word in his ear.

Although very pleading as weekends win was, overall the display didn’t tell us anything we didn’t know. Ie, solid at the back, strong in midfield (screened back 4 very well), limited up front and lacking out wide. Although Cole again worked tirelessly on his own again. So news that we are being linked with Johnson is very welcome, however unlikely! likewise Konate. Although I suspect there will be more chance of the latter arriving. If we are looking to enhance our striking options may I suggest Michael Owen? Perhaps on a no play no pay deal? After all if sir Alex thought the world of him who are we to disagree?
