Forever Mediocre?

|

David Sullivan announced this week that there would be tighter controls in place to deal with the growing disease in football, greed.

The Welsh man wants West Ham to become a self financing, sustainable business. The problem with this in my eyes is that at the promise of security comes the drag of mediocrity, many a chairmen has compared the ownership of a football club to a bottomless pit, which says it all.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Footballing success tends to be in direct correlation to either huge debt or wealthy owners, when was the last time you saw West Brom going for the title? They are the model which Sullivan is keen to duplicate, so what can we expect?

Well a wage cap of sorts, which seems fair its about time our club wasn’t held ransom by players and their agents, on the flip side of that very same coin if we implement a cap how do we offer wages to bring in a marquee signing or compete with the clubs around us for talent?

Next discussed was how these savings could be passed onto fans, these savings would come in the form of season ticket price freezes and match day ticket freezes and any other plans the two owners have in the pipe lines.

In my eyes unless the owners pump millions in each year to fund transfers we can’t compete in the transfer market which voids the point of being self financing.

Looking for experience? Just want to be heard outside of the Boleyn? We are currently looking for writers, drop us an email at foreverwestham@snack-media.com for more details

So to sum it all up would we rather pay an extra few quid on a season ticket or have a squad of substandard players in the future?

I know which option I prefer.

Dont let anyone make you believe we are mediocre. there’s something special about West Ham, something many other clubs and fans are envious of! … i agree with DS and holding players wages demands in sync with earnings. if players give us ultimatums, good riddence to them that’s what i say.

The reality is that we don’t have any billionaires splashing the cash on us. As much as we might not like it, football is a business these days. The Davids have to make decisions that will see West Ham safe as a business. I’d rather see us mediocre than experience the sort of disaster that has happened with the likes if Portsmouth and Rangers.

    FOREVER MEDIOCRE?……………. Get a grip!!!

The list of clubs with owners who have no common sense and “Deluded” supporters is growing. Leeds are relatively lucky to still be in existence and many more are on the brink. Have a look at Glasgow Rangers!
When you chase the dream make sure you have a billionaire owner! For me it is important for the generations that follow that 100 years from now West Ham United will STILL exist. So before posting such a nonsense post, engage your brain first!

Well unless we invest money in players, we will go down sooner or later and the financial backlash will be much worse than any millions spent on players, and then we will end up just like Portsmouth, Rangers and Co.

Investing money and being downright extravagant and wasteful are two entirely different things. Cars have gears for a simple reason, to get to fifth you have to move up the gears logically. Common sense isn’t something that automatically comes to mind when thinking about someone else’s money!
As Captain Mainwaring would say….. DON’T PANIC!!!

West ham will never be mediocre. Never a dull moment if you ask me. I believe the two d’s are making the correct changes in reducing the wage bill etc. Not to mention money invested and reducing clubs debt, meanwhile we gain promotion. In my opinion we are in a much better place than 2 or 3 seasons ago and if we continue in this way the future could be good.

but what would give for one season, when we pissed over all other london clubs, took the prem & both cups. all we need is a money man-if we move that may come true. irons fta

THIS WEBSITE WILL BE FOREVER MEDIOCORE!

  • Graham Lang says:

so moving to the olympic stadium is a smart financially responsible move then ?
one of the major problems with West Ham over the years has been management, with a few of exceptions the players have been spot on and the fans have been to die for.
yes we know it’s a business, but it is also much more than that, it’s about the East End, the fans, the team, bloody accountants.

    • The Cat says:

There is no real return gambling on players on high wages, whereas moving to a bigger location = lower ticket prices = more people, more revenue! IS a smart move financially and on a level of responsibility, a resounding YES too!

With that headline I thought you renaming this site as thats what it is.
