Keep believing in automatic promotion?

|

It’s around this time of the season where the predictability of the Football pundit can be seen clearer than Mark Lawrenson’s MOTD shirt. Whether it be the monotone Adrian Childs or the smarmy and dubiously smooth faced Gary Lineker, they collectively produce a word that seems to associate itself with a ‘Championship Chasing’ pack at the tail end of the season….MOMENTUM

Looking back over previous seasons, there always seems to be a late charge from a mid level Championship side either into the Play-off positions or automatic promotion. Reading, Hull and Swansea have all found themselves swimming amongst mediocrity, until a season changing last minute goal away to someone at the other end of the country or a very one sided and heavy loss to a local rival. What seems to happen, is the realisation that this is a TOUGH, scrappy league with little to choose between the bulk of teams. What then happens is the realisation that actually, WE DON’T WANT TO BE HERE.

And so the charge begins with the prize of promotion…

When asked the question about automatic promotion I worry greatly. This stat sums up why there is so much negativity around the Boleyn at present.

If the league had started on 17th November 2011, Reading would now be 17 points clear at the top of the table!”

Where were Reading on the 16th November? Mid Table Mediocrity!

It is the winning mentality installed within this team that (I feel) will guarantee them automatic promotion. I seriously doubt West Ham will catch them. Southampton on the other hand, are heavily reliant on one player. Ricky Lambert. Interesting statistics show that Southampton have a 80% win ration with him in the squad and 90% loss statistic with him out. To put it bluntly; Without him they’re nothing! All it takes is an injury or suspension and I feel they are there for the taking. Our issue lies from our inability to put a run of wins together. This is something we experienced only once this season as we rose to the top of the table.

Our inconsistency and the frequent late goals conceded lean towards the play offs, another story all together….

So what happens to Lambertt when Saints draw matches? Does he cease to exist?

Dare I suggest your stats were completely made up? Your reference to win rations doesn’t inspire confidence. Although its fair to say Hammers wins have been strictly rationed since Xmas.
