Is Big Sam still the man?

|

So this week our esteemed Vice-Chair-Woman Karren Brady decreed that Big Sam’s job will be safe even in the worst case scenario of the club not sealing promotion this season.

So how do we all feel about this? To be perfectly honest I have been rather disappointed by Sam’s conduct. Results haven’t been as good as we would’ve expected of late but I’m of the opinion that Allardyce shouldn’t be judged until the season’s end as he could still achieve his solitary objective of promotion.

What I am disappointed about are recent quotes attributed to Big Sam most specifically about the fans ‘talking b*llocks’ with reference to the criticism of his decision to replace Mark Noble with James Tomkins in midfield during the Reading game. I feel such comments at such a crucial stage of the season are divisive to say the least…at a time when the fans, manager and players all need to be in tune with each other such comments only serve to

further alienate him from fans still smarting over being labelled ‘deluded.’

As I stated earlier I feel with regards to the dreaded ‘vote of confidence’ this week from Mrs Brady I do believe Sam should only be judged at the end of the season. His remit at the start

of the campaign was to get us up and he’s been given virtually everything he could possibly need to do so from Messer’s Gold and Sullivan. Up until this point the season however has been disappointing and frustrating; as at the most crucial stage of this marathon we seem to have lost all confidence and momentum that’s been accrued to this point. And the season long problem of winning at home still hasn’t been addressed.

Though we’ve all been told that Sam will be in charge next season I believe it’s very much dependant on how the season ends; if we go up he’ll stay, if we gallantly/unluckily lose the Play-Off final he’ll stay, if we got knocked out in the Play-Off semi’s (given our shocking home form that’s a real possibility) it could cost him his job.

One thing that is for certain is that if Sam is to remain manager of West Ham United beyond this season a hell of a lot work will have to be done by himself to get the fans back on-side.

Right now his approval rating amongst Irons fans is at an all time low.

I will never understand why he has chosen to have a fight with the fans. No club can function with antipathy and mutual distrust between the fans and the manager and if it carries on something will have to be done. You don’t have to be a genius to work out what that is – you can’t sack the fans can you?

The only way he can repair his relationship with the fans is through immediate consistent success, but he has unnecessarily increased the pressure on himself and the team by putting himself in a position where he (and by extension they) will get no slack at all from the crowd.

The fact that a man as experienced as him (who went through the same thing at Newcastle)has chosen to act in the way he has just shows him to be very vain and silly I’m afraid. He won’t last long – even if we are promoted it won’t take much next season for the relationship to sour again, and if we are not he will have a weaker team next year and will be in trouble as soon as we lose any games.

I now could’t care less, was totally against his appointment for purely footballing reasons. whilst the rest of football has realised that small agile skillfill players playing passing possesion football is not only better to watch but is mor succesfull we appoint a manager who believes the complete opposite is true. And when faced with overwhwlming evidence to the contray says that he is right and 30,000 paying customers are wrong. I am now praying we do not go up as i see this as the only chance of getting rid of this dinosaur

Some our fan are deluded & talk B******s so he got every right to say it!! We can say what we like, but he can’t? If we give it we should be able to take it!!!!

Too right mate, everybody is happy when we’re winning. A football fan is a fickle thing! We’re 3rd with the chance of promotion, that’ll do me
