RUMOUR MILL: Would we really want this Manchester United starlet on loan?

|

So here we are, the transfer window is finally upon us and now the speculating about various players really starts. There has been one rumour I have had my eye on for quite some time, and only now is it starting to fabricate into some substance.

That is of the possible loan approach from West Ham for the rather infamous Ravel Morrison. The young 18 year old has been touted as one of the hottest prospects in football at the moment. He looks set to be something very big in the future but one thing is halting his progress, his attitude.

Morrison is said to have one of the worst attitudes of a footballer in the Premier League and although only being 18 years old has been in trouble with the police. In early 2011, he received a 12-month referral order and was ordered to pay £1,445 in costs and compensation after admitting two counts of witness intimidation. No matter how good a footballer is I believe that to be successful and looked upon decently they have to have a good attitude. In 2 years Morrison has only made 3 appearances for Manchester United, all coming in the league cup.

That speaks for itself as we all know the league cup is so famously known for being something that many managers overlook, the cup where all of the youngsters get their chance to impress. What makes this more interesting is that Sir Alex Ferguson has been quoted already this season about the United midfielder. Now what with Ferguson’s reputation for being able to handle some of the more, let’s say testing personalities in football it really surprised me to hear him say that he would not be renewing Morrison’s contract at the end of the season due to issues off the pitch.

As a result Manchester City are now looking to sign him in the summer transfer window, so surely he must have the talent?! This fall out between Ferguson and Morrison would only make any attempt to loan him easier for us. By the sounds of it Manchester United would be glad to be shot of him for a while. However, the youngster might be a good player but if he has this label should we want to be associated with him? Well I have to say no. Although it is more than likely that Big Sam would be able to handle Morrison I deem it unwise that we take him on with his severe attitude problem no matter how good he might be.
