Paolo’s Dream Move

|

Picture the scene, Big Sam has just led West Ham to a safe mid table finish in our first season back in the Premiership and gets his dream job, England manager and is forced to leave the club. Meanwhile down at Swindon former Hammers hero Paolo Di Canio has just led the Robins to back to back promotion and they find themselves in the Championship. The Hammers draw up a shortlist of names to replace the big man. Paolo after proving his worth at Swindon heads this list. The West Ham board announce him as manager, the fixtures are drawn and he is pitted against Tottenham at home in his first fixture.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

With the scores locked a 0-0 in front of packed Upton Park (in its last season of use before the move to the Olympic site) a scuffed back pass from Jermaine Defoe falls to Sam Baldock who smashes past the keeper. The West Ham fans go barmy, and their excitement is enhanced as they see a crazed Paolo run the length of the pitch to leap into the fans of the Bobby Moore Lower. Ok I’ll admit this is all fantasy land but it’s a nice thought isn’t it?

Paolo has made no secret that one day he would love to manage the club he spent four happy seasons at. He fell in love with the club, the fans and the passion. Paolo is a man who is so respected by his fellow peers, and would share his passions for West Ham and spur even the least motivated players in the squad to run through a brick wall. That passion and desire is just what the Hammers need.

Paolo would bring passing football back to the Boleyn ground and have us playing with flair again after yet another dull season of just staying up. Paolo would give us a laugh with his flamboyant hand gestures and his mood swings. He may be crazy but he is showing himself to be a great manager.

Who can forget Paolo’s greatest moment when he scooped the world fair play award, the way he presented himself that day will live long in the memory of Everton fans and world fans alike, the Italian bad boy had a heart. If Paolo could sprinkle that little bit of graciousness and class onto our players if he were to gain his dream move it would be a pleasure to watch.

Paolo has shown himself to be no mug in the managerial game, he has already beaten a Premier league outfit in Wigan with his league 2 side Swindon. He has shown great tactical awareness and great managerial knowledge. Even if the winner was shinned in from an offside position, Paolo’s emotions at full time showed that he isn’t the bad boy of football he is just a human.

With Paolo’s contacts in the game it would be anyone’s guess who we could see line up in the claret and blue if he were ever to join. It would sure be an exciting prospect and a team full of pride passion and belief.

Sir Paolo I look forward to you taking over the reins one day.

to be fair mate i would love nothing more tan to see this but managing a league 2 football club is totally different to managing a premiership side plus the soon to vacant england job has redknapp written all over it (fingers crossed)

Nobes, Redknapp will be in the clink. I think a few more years of experience and he will be fine.

if paolo succeed that is, if he failed once he took helm at WH?

will the board be able to sack him since he is the iconic person in WH history? will the fan be please if he always losing? If the fans start to hate him, will paolo still admit that WH is still his fave club?

Reading the first 2 paragraphs actually sent shivers down my spine! Id love it so much!! One day hopefully, but that day is not yet. We need to establish ourselfs as a PL club first.

This is my favourite bedtime story from now on! I think the chances of Redknapp becoming the next England manager are getting thinner by the day…unless he actually manages to win the title with Spuds! If not then he may want to stay and finish the job rather then take the fateful job! I personally think Big Sam would do better with England then Redknapp…his style of play would suit the players we have better, we simply don’t have the players to pass the ball around.

But anyway…im off to make my PAULO Returns calendar and count down the days! COYI

Not sure why this article has come back up again as it was posted back in January 2012 and its now Oct 2012. Anyway being a season ticket holder for many years i know like most supporters how great it would be to see Di Canio managing the club although to me why change a winning formular? I like most had doubts about Big Sam when he first came to West Ham but you have to admit since being back in the mighty Prem 11 points from 7 matches and a team bursting with confidence is a pleasure to watch!!! We have a strong squad when fit, big and bulky and to be honest scares the pants out of other teams, i mean look at Fulham? Didnt know what hit them and even though we lost to Arsenal their defence when Andy Carroll was on the ball where frightened! If we can max the points against the teams below us and on our level and maybe have a few suprises with the big boys then we will finish well this season im sure, and that i believe is because of the way Big Sam know’s how to manage a team in the Prem. Dont get me wrong i love Di Canio and the passion he has for our club but honestly he still needs to prove himself yet and id hate it if he could never aspire to being a top manager for us as he was a player. Would we still love him if we was sitting near the bottom of the league? Would he still be passionate about us if the fans where starting to boo? You gotta think about these things. If Big Sam doesnt want to go and he is doing really well for us. Dont change a thing, may not be the most attractive football we have ever played but i sure prefer that to watching a team who plays the ball around but cant score and is always fighting for relegation!!!!!!!
