Is there any Rio chance of a deal?

|

We are approaching the January transfer window where all the football “gossip columns” are in full force. Rumours are circulating that Sam Allardyce is planning a cheeky bid for former West Ham defender Rio Ferdinand.

Now let’s get one thing straight, this deal won’t be happening any time soon. The Manchester United centre back, despite his recent injury troubles, is still a key player for the Premier League champions. If Ferdinand did ever want to come back to West Ham, I would welcome him back with open arms. He played very well for the club under Harry Redknapp and I am pleased at what he has achieved in his club career.

Unlike some former West Ham players like Frank Lampard, Ferdinand has never said a bad word about the club and is always full of praise for the West Ham youth coaches who groomed him into the player he is today.

Over the past couple of seasons, Rio has had terrible luck with injuries. He may have lost a little bit of pace but would still be a great asset for the club, passing on his valuable experience and know-how would be amazing for the young defenders coming up from the Youth Academy.

Rio won’t be coming back to West Ham in the near future, and well probably never but wouldn’t it be great if he did.

Rio is far to slow for us now so what would the point be in him comming to WH? Helping our young players ? Not really as he is a well known party animal so this could be a bad infulence on them.

I saw Rio play for us at 17 and said he would play for England and I was proved right but now he is half the player that he was and I expect him to soon be off the top flight of the football scene.

Ok one, Rio is not too slow. He is simply slower than he used to be. Secondly, being a party animal (which I doubt he is) doesn’t automatically result in being a bad influence. Hence Sir Alex Ferguson not being hesitant in importing a load of youngsters.
