El Hadji Doofus?

|

El Hadji Diouf, where do you start? Not exactly one of the most popular players in the world of football. With his poor disciplinary record and negative demeanour is he really the type of player that West Ham needs?

There are so many examples I could use, displaying the Senegalese forward’s poor conduct, however the one that sticks in the memory is when Diouf spat in Arjan De Zeeuw’s face during a game, oh and also a Celtic fan’s face when he was at Rangers. So why when he is one of the most hated players in the modern game does Big Sam feel that we need him?

Well Diouf for all his faults does admittedly have some positives (I think). He is a strong footballer and uses his pace down the line and can score goals. Allardyce has previously worked with the man in question so does Big Sam know something about him that we don’t?

Diouf is no Messi (although his on field antics are) and even if he was, do we as fans of a club that has so much to do with keeping football an honest game really want someone like Diouf playing in the claret and blue.

With allegations of countless spitting offences, racism to ball-boy’s and taunting injured players I personally think he is a disgrace to the game. No matter how good a player you are it gives you no excuse to do the things he has. And steering away from his record, Diouf isn’t really that great at playing the game anyway, he is no world beater and to be honest I hardly think a squad of West Ham’s ability needs a player like Diouf regardless of what he has done.

Big Sam has offered him a 2 week trial and all I can hope for is that it goes badly. If we were to sign him up and El Hadji Diouf was part of the claret and blue army I have to say that I would lose a lot of respect for West Ham.

    Don’t make things up.

The incident with the Celtic fan was when he was a LIVERPOOL player.

  • Accurate Dave says:

He spat in a Celtic fan’s face when he was playing for Liverpool, at Celtic Park during a UEFA cup game, in 2003. (If he’d done it while playing for Rangers it would have started a civil war.)
He was also accused of spitting in a Portsmouth player’s face (in 2004, while at Bolton) and also accused of spitting at an 11-year old Middlesbrough fan (also in 2004, while at Bolton) – he’s pure class.
Keeping the theme going, he was also accused of spitting at a West Ham fan in 2002 (while he was playing for Liverpool).
He sounds like a top bloke.
I watched him a few times while he was in Scotland at Rangers and he was not worth the hassle. He plays well on occasion, but the baggage that comes with him far outweighs any benefit he may bring.
Keep the Hammers happy – don’t bring in El Hadji Diouf.

will the writer of this article please acknowledge his mistake in saying El Hadji played for LIVERPOOL when he spat on a Celtic fan not RANGERS. In his short spell at Ibrox he had a great disiplinary record depite the constant attempts by managers, staff members, fans and players of other teams to wind him up!!( you know who you are). He can deffo do a job for West Ham.

Yes I acknowledge my mistake in typing the wrong team, it as a mistake.

Wee Diouf was pretty good up in Glasgow. He won the league with us, wound up the tims, sounds good to me… He will be good for Hammers too. Paul
