West Ham manager David Moyes has suggested Pablo Fornals could be in contention for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal at the London Stadium.

The Spaniard missed the clash with Manchester United and is expected to be touch and go for what is a huge game in the Hammers’ pursuit of Champions League football.

Moyes confirmed the news during his pre-match press conference via the club’s official website.

“We have just about everybody the same, (Pablo) Fornals is improving and on the injury front, (Angelo) Ogbonna is getting closer to fitness although not for this game.

“(Arthur) Masuaku and (Andriy) Yarmolenko are both getting closer too so hopefully it won’t be long until we’re back to a full squad.”

Fornals has been an important member of Moyes’ side this season, contributing three goals and three assists across 27 appearances in all competitions.

There is a plus elsewhere for Moyes however as he will have Jesse Lingard back available for selection after the recalled England man missed the trip to face his parent club last week.

OPINION

Whilst its promising news that the 25-year-old wasn’t completely ruled out and is in fact improving, it seems unlikely he will be available for selection from the outset.

A spot on the West Ham bench looks to be a far more realistic outcome.
