Samantha Quek cheekily urged West Ham to sign Manchester City defender Kyle Walker due to how useless Hammers goalkeeper Roberto is.

The Olympic goal medalist, who can sometimes be found on BBC One’s Football Focus, ripped into Roberto during the Hammers’ 3-2 loss to Tottenham on Saturday and opted to make a joke in the process.

Quek claimed that West Ham needed to sign Walker pronto, with her clearly referencing how the Man City right-back recently played as a shot-stopper during his side’s 1-1 draw with Atlanta in the Champions League.

“West Ham need to sign Kyle Walker pronto!Their keeper, #Roberto, is USELESS!!!#WHUTOT,” wrote Quek on her verified Twitter account.

OPINION

While Quek is joking, well hopefully, about West Ham needing to sign Walker, she isn’t kidding with her opinion of Roberto. The 33-year-old stopper has struggled ever since replacing the injured Lukasz Fabianski in the Hammers’ first-team, and he continued to look out of his depth against Spurs. Roberto collided with Angelo Ogbonna at one point, which showed how he isn’t communicating well with his side’s defence, and then he clearly should have done better with all three of Spurs’ goals. The Spanish shot-keeper has conceded 15 goals in seven league outings this season, failing to keep a clean sheet, as per Transfermarkt, and Manuel Pellegrini really needs to drop the axe on him, as every time an opponent has a shot on goal at the moment, you can’t help but feel the keeper will find a way to see it cross the line. While current third-choice option David Martin hasn’t got any Premier League experiences to his name, surely he can’t fare any worse than Roberto?
