Danny Mills has suggested that Manuel Pellegrini will have been fuming with his West Ham United squad after their 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit claimed that the Chilean will have been tearing his hair out that the Hammers couldn’t make their dominance count and take home the three points from the game at the London Stadium.

“It can happen in football and sometimes as a manager you’re left there on the sidelines, tearing your hair out, wondering how on earth that happened and that was probably one of those games,” he told Football Insider.

West Ham continued their poor run with the point against the Blades, meaning they haven’t picked up all three points in a game since their 2-0 victory over Manchester United in September.

There is no hiding from the fact that West Ham are in the middle of a seriously poor run in the Premier League. The Hammers haven’t been good enough, and the majority of the blame will land at the doorstep of Pellegrini. The truth is though, there is only so much the Chilean can do before matchday, and at some point, the blame must switch to the players out on the pitch. West Ham had more than 60% possession against the Blades in the 1-1 draw and completed over 150 more touches of the ball than their opposition according to WhoScored – more than enough domination to put the game to bed after taking the lead through a goal from Robert Snodgrass. If the Hammers want to bring European football to the London Stadium next season, then they need to turn their dominance in games into convincing victories, and if they can’t learn to do that then they can wave goodbye to that potential dream.
