West Ham United co chairman David Gold has sent a six-word message to Hammers playmaker Manuel Lanzini after the team’s victory over Fulham.

The Argentine international scored the only goal of the game as the east London outfit edged their London rivals on Saturday, scoring a fantastic solo effort.

It was a beautiful, curling effort from the 26-year-old, and a nice reminder of his talents after a frustrating end to last season.

Gold was clearly pleased: “Lanzini scores, in off the bar. 1-0 dg,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

This was certainly a nice place for Lanzini to pick up having not quite nailed the comeback on his return to first team football towards the back end of last season. It’s always difficult to make a full recovery and come into the team 100% at your best after being out for as long as Lanzini was, and so it proved. He didn’t look quite himself last term, and it was probably quite distressing viewing from a Hammers perspective. However, the 26-year-old is fully fit and back in the fray now, as his goal against Fulham well and truly proved. It was typical Lanzini, with the Argentine pouncing on a loose ball and making the opposition pay. That is very much what he does best and it was fantastic to see the ball leave his boot and curl into the top corner. The West Ham supporters will obviously be hoping for many more where that came from, with competitive games being the Litmus test for Lanzini and the rest of Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
