West Ham United co chairman David Gold has sent a gushing message to Hammers summer signing Pablo Fornals after his international success.
The 23-year-old was part of the Spain Under-21s side who claimed the Under-21s European Championship on Sunday with a 2-1 win over their German counterparts in Italy.
Gold was thrilled for him: “Pablo Fornals helped Spain claim the UEFA U21 Championship title with a 2-1 victory over holders Germany in Sunday’s final,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“Fornals was involved from the start as Spain led from the front to win the continental title at U21 level for a fifth time. Congratulations Pablo. dg.”

OPINION
Fornals is certainly going to be arriving at the London Stadium on a high, isn’t he? The former Villarreal man started the showpiece event on Sunday, although he didn’t have the best of games and was eventually substituted. However, he played a big part for Spain over the course of the tournament, bagging a couple of goals and increasing the excitement levels among the West Ham supporters tenfold. Clearly this is an immensely talented young man who is in terrific form and will bring a winning mentality. Now that he’s tasted silverware with his country, he’ll be keen to continue his momentum with his new club next season. The thought of seeing Fornals link up with new teammates Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic is absolutely salivating, and seeing the former lift silverware will only increase expectations further in east London. Who’s excited for the new campaign, then? It’s surely set to be a good one.
