Jack Wilshere’s return to the West Ham United fold has been a long time coming for the 27-year-old this season.

Having been ruled out after playing just five games since he arrived at the London Stadium in the summer, Wilshere was once again condemned to the sidelines after yet another problem with his ankle, which was just his luck after his time at Arsenal turned turbulent because of the ongoing issue.

However, his Hammers comeback is now on the horizon, as boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Wilshere could either be involved this weekend against Leicester or possibly next week, as relayed by Football London.

This is just he has been waiting fo after such a long time out of action, and Pellegrini is no doubt over the moon that he now has more options to call upon in his midfield, especially with Manuel Lanzini and Samir Nasri ruled out of the clash.

Pellegrini does not have many attacking options to select in the midfield with the duo sidelined, but seeing as Wilshere has shown that he can play further forward for the under-23s, it would be wise to use him if he is deemed fit enough to play a part.

This a position that he excelled in when playing for the youth side against their Leicester counterparts a few weeks ago, and even though he was expectedly rusty, his ability to do that ensured that the striker was not as isolated up front – something that can often happen with the Irons.

Either way, Pellegrini will be ecstatic that his return is imminent, as his midfield has been one of the worst struck areas in terms of injuries this term – so fingers crossed that Wilshere’s ankle problem does not rear its head any time soon.
