West Ham are ready to offload defender Winston Reid in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The reliable football website claim that due to this the Hammers centre-back, who earns £70,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), may have played his last game for the club.

Football Insider report that this is the case even though Reid has returned to training after not featuring for the club for just over year after suffering a knee injury in March.

OPINION

It’s no surprise that Reid is facing an exit from the club, but you think Manuel Pellegrini may have waited to see him in action before deciding to get him off the club’s books. The 30-year-old centre-back’s injury record may be a red flag but ahead of problems getting the better of him in his 2017/18 campaign, he was always one of the Hammers’ more reliable players. While it’s true that this season with him stuck on the sidelines, the likes of Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna are ahead of him in the pecking order, it doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of leapfrogging them. The Hammers haven’t looked strong defensively this season and in recent weeks, the likes of Ogbonna and Diop have submitted performances that supporters would love to wipe from their memory. Given that none of the Hammers’ currently available centre-backs seem untouchable as all have proven to be capable of errors and bad performances, there is a small chance Reid could change Pellegrini’s mind in training.
