West Ham United’s midfield has undergone a bit of a crisis this season to say the least, and it is no doubt a position that Manuel Pellegrini wants to strengthen in.

Yes, they do have Declan Rice, who has many, many years ahead of him. However, Mark Noble is getting older and cannot play every match, Pedro Obiang is likely to leave in the summer, and it remains to be seen just what roles Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez will play next season.

It has been the most injury striken area for the Hammers this term, so it would be wise to bring in at least one new face to give Manuel Pellegrini a lot more options.

Once player that fits the bill is Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka. According to Team Talk, the Irons were in talks over a move in January, but needless to say it never materialised into anything.

The 24-year-old is just what West Ham need in order to revitalise the team in the middle of the park – he certainly has the quality and workrate required to be a success at the club. At his age, he is yet to reach his prime, something which is no doubt an exciting prospect.

It would be interesting to see how he would perform alongside Rice. Rice has the same hard working atttributes as Lobotka, so it would not take an expert to realise that they would be quite the midfield partnership if they had the chance to link up.

The report stated that the La Liga star was keen on a move to London and West Ham, so the club must make that a reality in the summer.

Pellegrini would play a blinder if he sealed a deal for the Slovakia international this time around, as he is just the player the Irons need.
