West Ham want Tokoz

|

West Ham United are interested in Besiktas midfielder Dorukhan Tokoz, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet reports on their website that the Hammers are among the suitors for the 22-year-old, with a number of Spanish clubs also having the recently capped Turkey international on their radars.

The report adds that Besiktas have already turned down a £6.8 million (eight million euros) bid from Serie A club Genoa, as they want to wait for a club to make a higher offer.

The Super Lig club value Dorukhan at around £17 million (20 million euros).

OPINION

West Ham were previously interested in fellow Besiktas player Gary Medel, who was not suited to the Hammers in any shape or form, so it remains to be seen what Tokoz can bring to the team that they do not already have. Declan Rice and Mark Noble have been doing a splendid job in the central midfield lately, so perhaps this interest stems from that fact that Pedro Obiang is one of the players who could be heading towards the exit door this summer. However, Tokoz must be doing something right if he only earned his first cap for Turkey in March. Also, the fact that he has a number of other clubs keen shows that he is a player who is in-demand. He is only 22, so he no doubt has a lot of potential to give, so who knows whether West Ham will step up their interest in him? They will certainly have competition for his signature, so watch this space.
