Former West Ham United assistant manager Stuart Pearce has praised Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for his performances this season.

Pearce was at the London Stadium as David Moyes’s number two last season, before Fabianski was at the club, but the former Manchester City boss has been greatly impressed by the Poland international this term.

“He’s been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League in my opinion behind Ben Foster,” he said during talkSPORT‘s live commentary of the Hammers’ 2-0 loss to Everton on Saturday [March 30; 17:43 p.m.]

“He has been absolutely unbelievable,” he finished.

OPINION

It’s no surprise to see an influential figure like Pearce come out and praise Fabianski, because he has been phenomenal this season. The former Swansea City man really has been excellent for Manuel Pellegrini’s side and has proved to be a tremendous bargain. Pearce is right, there aren’t many better goalkeepers than the Pole in the top flight. In terms of ‘keepers’ performances this campaign there’s only really Alisson and the aforementioned Foster who can rival him. Manchester United’s David de Gea has had a bit of a down year by his unbelievably lofty standards, while Ederson has done well for Manchester City but hasn’t truly shone because he never really has much to do. Foster has been excellent but it’s hard to say that any shot-stopper has been better than the West Ham man. He performed incredibly well again in difficult circumstances against the Toffees on Saturday, proving why he is without doubt one of the best ‘keepers in the Premier League.
