West Ham United seem to be on a bit of a slump recently after suffering a 3-0 loss to Wolves on Tuesday night, and it is safe to say that the majority of the team were not at their best.

One of those players was left-back Arthur Masuaku, who has been playing understudy to Aaron Cresswell recently.

Well, it is safe to say that he proved why he is Manuel Pellegrini’s second choice, as his performance was absolutely abysmal – but that is becoming a regular occurence when he does play.

He is simply not good enough to play in West Ham’s back four anymore, but the fans no doubt know that already, so it is baffling to see why the Hammers have not targeted a new one as cover.

In fact, the club must be regretting their decision not to sign a new left-back following this display, and it has made the need to sign one in the summer even greater.

Pellegrini’s stance on not signing a new left-back is actually rather nonsensical, and it indicates that he had hope that Masuaku would improve over course of the season

Masuaku is not up to Premier League standard anymore, and the faster Pellegrini recognises this, the better.

He clearly is not going to get better any time soon if his recent horror shows are anything to go by, and it is no coincidence in the slightest that his teammates perform negatively with him in the side.

Why keep a player on the books if they are just going to hamper a team’s efforts instead of improve them?

The Hammers cannot afford record any more defeats at the moment if they are aiming for a top ten finish this season, so it is paramount that the 25-year-old is permanently axed in the summer.

Over to you, Pellegrini.
