West Ham United may have lost to Bournemouth last weekend, but the fans are no doubt in dreamland now that they sit in the top ten of the Premier League.

Rewind back to the start of the season where the Hammers were condemned to five straight defeats, many supporters would have laughed at such a prospect.

Despite the confidence that is being displayed by the fans at the moment, recruiting this month is a priority, and thus far, the Irons have not signed anyone.

West Ham have been after a striker ever since the reports linking Marko Arnautovic with a move to China popped up, and even though he is set to stay for the time being, it would not hurt to sign a forward who has had a taste of the Premier League – one of the reasons why they hold little interest in Sunderland ace Josh Maja [Claret and Hugh].

This forward must come in the shape of Vincent Janssen, who has been frozen-out at Tottenham by boss Mauricio Pochettino, and was previously of interest before Spurs snapped him up [the Sun].

Despite the fact that he has had hardly any game time this season, Janssen is clearly not a striker who will hit the ground running straight away.

With the likes of Arnautovic still at the club, he will be resigned to a fringe role – which would allow him to improve over the course of the season until the summer, where the club could be braced for bids for Arnautovic once again.

He just needs game time in order to reignite his flair for goal – limited opportunities are obviously not doing any good for his progress.

If his form can be unleashed, then he will be a player who could do incredibly well for West Ham.

In all fairness, Janssen has not really been given the chance to show what he can really do on a regular basis, so perhaps this is the move that he needs to revive his form – especially if he is eager to quit Tottenham.

West Ham must plot a surprise raid on him this month – as he has the potential to be effective for the Hammers if given the chance to revive his form.
