West Ham are interested in Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack but are unlikely to sign him in the January transfer window, according to EXWHUEmployee.

The trusted insider shared that the Hammers were unlikely to have the money available to buy the 24-year-old playmaker in the winter window so unless Blackburn are prepared to let him go cheaply, no deal is close.

“There is interest in Dack, mentioned him on the show before, who is at Blackburn,” said the insider on The West Ham Way Episode 116 on Phoenix FM (36:50).

“I don’t think we’ll be able to pay the money for him in this window, an ITK is back on the scene and saying it’s 95% done, erm I don’t think it’s 95% done at all.

“There is interest but unless Blackburn are prepared to let him go for nothing or very little or on loan, I don’t think that transfer is close.

“Particularly as we’re signing Nasri anyway and they would be a similar position.”

The Sun previously reported that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were going head-to-head with Crystal Palace in January for Dack and were set to submit a bid close to the value of £20million.

OPINION

This makes completely sense and while Dack would be a welcomed addition in January, the club did spend big in the summer window. The insider when clarifying the reported January pursuit makes it clear the Hammers are still keen on the Blackburn Rovers player and that should be seen as a positive. The 24-year-old has been in tremendous form in his 18/19 campaign so far as he has been involved in 18 goals already. Dack has scored 11 goals, while creating seven, in the 20 appearances he has made for Rovers across all competitions. While the talented midfielder hasn’t ever featured in the Premier League, given how well he is excelling in the extremely difficult Championship, it’s easy to see him making the step up with ease. However all the Hammers have to do now is hope that another Premier League club don’t snap Dack up in the January window, so that they can make a smart swoop for him in the summer.
