John Motson raved about West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson when delivering his verdict on the Hammers’ 3-0 win over Newcastle United.

The legendary voice shared that he was impressed by the 25-year-old winger weeks ago when seeing him first hand and wasn’t surprised that he was continuing to excel.

“It was a good day for the Hammers especially with Chicharito scoring two as he has been missing them abit,” said Motson on talkSPORT (Monday, December 3rd, 14:50).

“Oh well we know about that, we flagged him up a few weeks ago (Anderson) and I said he was terrific in the game I did against Burnley and he looks like a Premier League star now.”

Anderson has scored five, while assisting two, in the 16 outings he has made for the London club since joining from Lazio in the summer.

OPINION

Motson’s reaction to the subject of Anderson’s immense display against the Magpies says it all. The commentator clearly upon seeing the Brazilian play this season, knew that he soon be a player regularly stealing the headlines for his club. While Anderson is no doubt still settling into the Premier League, it’s impressive that he has shone as bright as he has after making the jump to division.  The 25-year-old may have submitted a couple of less than stellar performances this season but you feel once he completely adapts to the Premier League that he will soon be winning Man of the Match awards on a regular basis. Anderson was exciting to watch against the Magpies and even continues to play in similar fashion, you feel that he will soon be a fan favourite who gets his name regularly sung around the London Stadium. The Hammers are set to take on Cardiff City on Tuesday evening and given that they are perceived as one of the lesser teams in the division,  hopefully Anderson can put in another show-stealing display.
