West Ham’s official Twitter account revealed on Friday that fan favourite Declan Rice had signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2024. This reveal sent loads of Hammers fans into celebration mode as they simple were blown away over receiving the news they had been waiting for. It should have been expected that, just as one fan tweeted below, Hammers fans would feel Rice signing a new contract was like the greatest Christmas present they could possibly receive as the teenager has been a sensation this season. The natural centre-back has been playing regularly in Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield this season and has been wowing in the process. Whether Rice ends up permanently being deployed as a holding midfielder at the London Stadium is debatable as you still feel his destiny lies at the heart of the Hammers’ defence. However whatever position he ends up playing, you just feel like he will be a key player for the club for many seasons to come.
