West Ham have been dealt a double blow ahead of their trip to Burnley as Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic are unlikely to feature, according to Football.London journalist Sam Inkersole.

The reliable journalist shared that Hernandez, who earns £140,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), will definitely miss the trip to Turf Moor while Arnautovic, who earns £100,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), is unlikely to be risked despite having his fitness assessed on Friday.

“West Ham will be without Javier Hernandez for the trip to Burnley tomorrow through injury. Marko Arnautovic’s fitness was assessed yesterday, unlikely to be risked at Turf Moor. #WHUFC” tweeted Inkersole on his verified Twitter account.

OPINION

It seems the Hammers will have to cope once again without their big earning duo despite there being previous hope they could face Burnley. Clearly the London club were keen to see if Arnautovic was an option as otherwise they wouldn’t have left until yesterday to assess his fitness ahead of Sunday’s clash. With Hernandez and Arnautovic both out that does mean that Pellegrini’s front-line won’t be first-choice but he has seen his side get by in recent games. Lucas Perez does need to up his game but that said attacker Michail Antonio has been regularly impressing as of late which is impressive considering he has been playing in a variety of positions. As for Andy Carroll it’s hard to judge him at the moment as he clearly is still rusty after a long time on the sidelines. It is a blow for Pellegrini to be without Hernandez and Arnautovic still as after playing on Thursday against Southampton, he probably would have liked the option to freshen up his team as the festive schedule has taken its toll.
