COMMENTARY
Some Manchester City fans were blown away by the way Raheem Sterling dazzled against West Ham on Saturday and it’s hard to blame them. The 23-year-old scored as well as register two assists to ensure Man City ran out 4-0 winners at the London Stadium and condemn the Hammers to a miserable afternoon. Sterling was able to have everything his way during the match and what’s worrying is you feel that the winger wasn’t even at his best and that he was holding something back with Man City set to be in Champions League action in the coming days. Given that the England international regularly seems to get an unfair amount of criticism, it’s nice to see him doing well although Hammers fans would rather it wasn’t at the expense of their club. Sterling has really improved since working with Pep Guardiola and it’s no surprise that one fan dubbed him a ‘completely different player’ to the one they saw in his 2017/18 season as he has improved so much in front of goal. Though it is worth nothing he did score an impressive 23 goals in 46 outings last season, but it could definitely be argued that he missed some golden chances for more in his 17/18 campaign.
