Ian Wright shared that he believes West Ham will get points in their next few games after watching them get defeated 4-0 by Manchester City on Saturday.

The BBC pundit shared that the Hammers didn’t have to worry about getting anything from matches with the likes of Man City and highlighted the London club’s poor record against the current Premier League leaders.

Wright then added that he believes Manuel Pellegrini’s side would pick up points in their next few games not just because of their opponents, but because of Michail Antonio, Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson being able to create chances.

“Yeah it is in the last four home games, Manchester City against West Ham it’s like 17-1 or something, I don’t think these are the games they need to worry about but Pep did say West Ham did create some chances,” said the pundit on BBC One’s Match of the Day (Saturday November 24, 11:04pm).

“I know Pep was being quite harsh on his own team but the games West Ham have coming up, you have to say with Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio they will create chances and they will, I believe, get some points out of the game coming.”

OPINION

Arnautovic and Anderson are understandable choices by Wright but his decision to say Antonio is a potential point winner is a bit of a curveball. The 28-year-old winger has only racked up one goal and one assist in his 15 outings across all that competitions this season, despite having a bucket load of chances. Antonio started the match with Man City on Saturday and to be honest he kept trying and trying to get his side back into it. This led to the attacker even having an effort hit the right post at one point, however watching him chug away was admirable but showed he didn’t have the quality needed to succeed at the London Stadium anymore. Then again it’s worth pointing out that Antonio has been dealt a rough hand with injuries in the last few seasons and that perhaps if he is able to get a consistent run of games, his past impressive form and confidence will return to help the clubs. Saturday’s clash with Manchester City was only the third time this season that the attacker had completed 90 minutes.
