One West Ham fan has took it upon themselves to create a GoFundMe page in order to raise funds to give Declan Rice the contract he deserves.

The Hammers fan claimed they were aiming to raise funds via GoFundMe in order to get enough money to see the 19-year-old put pen to paper on the new contract he desires, as the board were dragging their feet.

The Sun reported when covering the fan’s action shared that Rice wanted a deal that would see him earn nearer £40,000-a-week after rejecting the Hammers’ offer of a new £15,000-a-week contract.

While there is a bold, if somewhat humorous attempt, to ensure that Rice doesn’t slip through the Hammers fingers, it does prove that there will be uproar if Chelsea sign him upon the club dropping the ball.

Metro UK previously reported that the Hammers’ London rivals were plotting a move for Rice due to the talented teen not agreeing a new deal as of yet, and were willing to give him a £40,000-a-week deal to lure him away from the London Stadium.

The news outlet even claimed that the Hammers maybe forced to sell the enforcer if he still didn’t agree new terms, with his current deal ending in 2020, as they would want to make sure he didn’t leave on a free.

Losing Rice would be painful whether a fee was received for him as he has shone very brightly this season under Manuel Pellegrini.

The teenager has been deployed in midfield, rather than in his natural position of centre-back, and has regularly put in Man of the Match worthy performances in his 10 outings this season.

Given if Chelsea, of all clubs, were to get their way and acquire Rice because of his contract situation developing further then it would be heartbreaking for fans and would see anger directed at the board.

This will definitely be the case as one Hammers fans’ determination to take action with a GoFundMe Page, even if in jest, shows the uproar that would occur.
