West Ham United are in talks with Samir Nasri over a move to the club worth £5 million a year, according to the Daily Mail but the demands, from a player who’s been out of the game for 18 months, are ludicrous and Mario Husillos must walk away now.

The newspaper reports on their website that the ex-Manchester City ace is eager for a move to the London Stadium, but he wants to ensure that his financial demands are met during discussions.

His wage demands work out at £5 million a year – that is just short of of £100,000-a-week – and seeming as Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini as previously worked with the Frenchman at City and is keen to add more attacking flair to his side, a move for him seems possible.

West Ham’s highest earner at the club is currently striker Javier Hernandez, who is on £140,000-a-week [Spotrac], while Marko Arnautovic is on £100,000-a-week – but the fact that Nasri is asking for this amount is laughable.

He has only just returned from a drugs ban, yet he is still demanding this type of money in order to join the club – money that would put him towards the top of the Hammers pile.

Yes, Pellegrini worked with him at City, but there is no guarantee that he is going to be up to standard, especially after he’s been out for such a long time.

West Ham’s wage bill is already sky-high after a summer of investment and players like Andy Carroll are already bleeding lots of cash out for nothing.

The last thing the club needs is to take another gamble on someone like Nasri, who may or may not be up to scratch.
