Super Lig outfit Besiktas are keen on a loan move for West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish outlet reports on their website that the Hammers’ highest earner – who is on £140,000-a-week [Spotrac] – is wanted on loan for the second half of the season, with negotiations having taken place for his potential transfer already.

The report adds that the 5ft 9in [Transfermarkt] star was wanted by the Turkish club at the beginning of the season, but the transfer did not end up going through.

Hernandez’ contract expires in 2020, but he has not been a key figure in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans this season.

OPINION

It is not surprising to see that a club is after the services of Hernandez on loan – after all, they must have recognised that he is getting limited game time at West Ham. A loan move for the second half of the season would not be such a bad idea for the 30-year-old, as after all, when is he going to feature when the likes of Marko Arnautovic are ahead of him in the pecking order? Answer – not very often. He desperately needs regular match time under his belt, and he is certainly not going to get that at the London Stadium any time soon. He has not managed to flourish since he arrived, and no manager since then has been able to get the best out of him, which is a real shame. As we saw at Manchester United, he can have a real lethal eye for goal – it is just that nobody has been able to exploit at West Ham. Fingers crossed that a loan move is on the horizon, so he can show everyone what he can really do.
